Cash Games vs. GPPs: What You Need to Know

Different contest structures call for different lineup decisions. Learn how the objective changes the process.

Cash games and large-field tournaments reward different decision processes. The goal is not to label one format as better. The goal is to understand what the contest is asking from your lineup.

In a cash-style contest, the emphasis is usually on building a lineup with a strong median projection and avoiding unnecessary fragility. In a large-field GPP, lineup construction can require a different balance of projection, correlation, uniqueness and risk.
